Giustizia e pace non si incontrano da sole. Qualcuno deve tenere aperto lo spazio in cui possono baciarsi. Crediamo che preti, pastori e leader religiosi non possano restare in silenzio, ma debbano fare la loro parte.
This is not a promise postponed to the end of time. It is the description of a task.
Justice and peace do not meet on their own. Someone has to hold open the space where they can kiss. We believe that priests, pastors and religious leaders cannot stay silent, but must play their part.

Un anno fa ci siamo trovati per la prima volta: sacerdoti venuti da paesi diversi, con storie diverse, uniti dalla stessa convinzione — che il Vangelo non ci lascia il lusso del silenzio.
Il 22 settembre torniamo a Roma. Una mattina di formazione e confronto, un pranzo fraterno, e nel pomeriggio la preghiera e la marcia attraverso le vie della capitale.
È una giornata riservata ai ministri ordinati. Più paesi saremo, più forte sarà la testimonianza.
A year ago we met for the first time: priests from different countries, with different stories, united by one conviction — that the Gospel does not allow us the luxury of silence.
On 22 September we return to Rome. A morning of formation and discussion, a fraternal lunch, and in the afternoon prayer and a march through the streets of the city.
The day is reserved for ordained ministers. The more countries represented, the stronger the witness.

Molti di noi hanno taciuto a lungo, e per una ragione onesta: la paura di dividere. Di portare la divisione lì dove si celebra l'Eucaristia. Di perdere qualcuno.
Poi è arrivato il punto in cui il silenzio non proteggeva più nessuno.
Non chiediamo a nessun confratello di diventare un attivista. Chiediamo qualcosa di più semplice, e più difficile: di non restare fuori. Il dibattito sulla pace e sul bene comune non è un terreno estraneo al ministero. È il terreno su cui il ministero si verifica.
Siamo sacerdoti, diaconi, vescovi e cardinali. Nessuno di noi ha smesso di essere parroco, cappellano, missionario. Semplicemente, non consideriamo più Gaza una notizia che riguarda qualcun altro.
Many of us kept silent for a long time, and for an honest reason: the fear of dividing. Of bringing division to the very place where the Eucharist is celebrated. Of losing someone.
Then came the point where silence no longer protected anyone.
We are not asking any brother priest to become an activist. We are asking something simpler, and harder: not to stay outside. The debate on peace and the common good is not ground foreign to the ministry. It is the ground on which the ministry is tested.
We are priests, deacons, bishops and cardinals. None of us has stopped being a parish priest, a chaplain, a missionary. We have simply stopped treating Gaza as news about somebody else.
Non l'indignazione,
ma l'amore che non si rassegna.
Not outrage, but a love that refuses to resign itself.

Siamo sacerdoti cattolici, pastori e guide di comunità. Non possiamo tacere davanti alla tragedia umanitaria della popolazione civile palestinese, a Gaza e negli altri Territori Palestinesi Occupati.
Questa rete non nasce per fomentare odio o divisione, ma per dare voce unitaria alle tante iniziative personali che già esistono — nella fedeltà al Vangelo, al Magistero e alla sensibilità condivisa con molte denominazioni cristiane.
We are Catholic priests, pastors and community leaders. We cannot keep silent before the humanitarian tragedy of the Palestinian civilian population, in Gaza and in the other Occupied Palestinian Territories.
This network was not born to stir up hatred or division, but to give one voice to the many personal initiatives already under way — in fidelity to the Gospel, to the Magisterium, and to a sensibility shared with many Christian denominations.

Non siamo «contro» qualcuno: siamo a favore di ogni vita umana. La presa di posizione contro il genocidio del popolo palestinese non ha finalità di partito. Nasce dalla coscienza di essere uomini, e dall'esigenza di vivere coerentemente la fede — anche quando questo comporta il coraggio di dire verità scomode.
Nutriamo un profondo apprezzamento per la tradizione giudaica, dalla quale abbiamo ricevuto gli insegnamenti di Gesù. Respingiamo ogni accusa di antisemitismo nella definizione — l'antisemitismo è odio contro gli ebrei in quanto ebrei, non critica politica a uno Stato — e nella sostanza, perché in quel popolo riconosciamo le nostre radici comuni. Denunciamo invece l'uso distorto del potere politico-militare e la strumentalizzazione del nome di Dio, come fecero i profeti d'Israele contro i re iniqui del loro tempo.
We are not “against” anyone: we are for every human life. Taking a stand against the genocide of the Palestinian people serves no party. It arises from the awareness of being human beings, and from the need to live our faith consistently — even when that takes the courage to say uncomfortable truths.
We hold a deep appreciation for the Jewish tradition, from which we received the teachings of Jesus. We reject any accusation of antisemitism both in definition — antisemitism is hatred of Jews as Jews, not political criticism of a State — and in substance, because in that people we recognise our own common roots. What we denounce is the distorted use of political and military power and the instrumentalisation of God's name, as the prophets of Israel did against the unjust kings of their time.

The document is open to deacons, priests, bishops and cardinals from every country. It asks for no membership: it asks for a signature, and the willingness not to stay outside.
Non parliamo al posto loro. Parliamo perché ce l'hanno chiesto.
Il 14 novembre 2025, da Betlemme, i leader cristiani di Palestina — cattolici, ortodossi ed evangelici insieme — hanno consegnato alla Chiesa universale un nuovo appello: «Un momento di verità: fede in tempo di genocidio». È il seguito del Kairos del 2009, scritto ora dentro la catastrofe. Chiama le cose con il loro nome e chiede alle Chiese del mondo di passare dalla compassione a una solidarietà che ha un prezzo.
Qualcuno ha giudicato questo testo troppo duro. Ciascuno ha il diritto di esprimere le proprie idee e le proprie critiche. Ma prima di giudicare le parole, vi invitiamo a leggerlo, e a farvi una vostra idea su ciò che i cristiani di Terra Santa ci stanno chiedendo.

On 14 November 2025, from Bethlehem, the Christian leaders of Palestine — Catholic, Orthodox and Evangelical together — handed the universal Church a new appeal: “A Moment of Truth: Faith in a Time of Genocide.” It is the sequel to the 2009 Kairos, written now from inside the catastrophe. It calls things by their name and asks the churches of the world to move from compassion to a solidarity that has a price.
Some have judged this text too harsh. Everyone has the right to express their own ideas and their own criticism. But before judging the words, we invite you to read it, and to form your own view of what the Christians of the Holy Land are asking of us.
